Parrot has introduced Asteroid Parrot, a multimedia center for the car with Android operating system.
Asteroid serves as a music player for multiple devices using different connection options, tune into FM radio, integrated hands-free and GPS with Google Maps. Arguably, this device is the fusion between a traditional CD radio and a smartphone with Android.
Connectivity in the back has three USB ports, plus one compatible with Apple devices like iPhone or iPod, an audio input of 3.5 mm, two RCA preamp outputs and a dual RCA for bass.
The removable front hides a slot for SD memory cards, but no front USB port, which would be much more practical.
Wirelessly integrates the Asteroid Parrot Bluetooth supports up to two devices at once and also allows to play music from your phone, sync contacts and call with hands-free system.
The device can integrate 3G via a USB port. This allows us to convert the system into a real Android phone data connection. The version of the computer’s operating system is 2.2, and allows applications to Android Market download or listen to music or the radio through the Internet.
The included GPS key transforms the device in a GPS system based in Parrot Maps, similar to Google, and may indicate the route between different locations, access to business data and make a call to them. We may receive information about traffic or work in our path.
A scroll wheel allows since moving from song to song to zoom in Google Maps. To the right we find a 3.2-inch screen color with all the information: calendar, playlist, menus, album covers, web applications and services.
